In 2017, Jane Ubell-Meyer founded Bedside Reading®, the world’s leader in placing and promoting books and authors in over forty 5-star luxury hotels, the Hamptons, and the Media.
The company has developed on-going programs specifically designed to bring visibility, awareness to authors and help them grow their book sales.
She is also the publisher of Bedside Reading® the Magazine which complements the company’s book marketing programs and distributed nation-wide to indie-bookstores and Hollywood producers.
Jane is a former TV/Film producer, her credits include GMA, ET, ABC, and Wall Street Journal Television.
She produced several films including: Leona Helmsley: The Queen of Mean, Sioux City, and Precious Find.
Jane spent a year working for Hearst Magazines in their Branding and Licensing division before creating the award-winning company, Madison & Mulholland which was one of the world’s leaders in celebrity gifting.
The company was known luxury gifting and working with Oscar, Emmy, Grammy winners and nominees producing celebrity gifting lounges in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami for major movie studios and events.
Jane lives in Connecticut and Palm Springs with her husband.

FAQ
Before we begin, I need help writing my book. What do I do?
The TLA Publishing Package includes the copyedit/proofread but not an additional developmental edit. You have the current development with your writing coach in TLA (this is the editing that happens between your 1-1 sessions on the pages your turn in) and if you are interested in a 2nd round the team can provide an estimate.
How much is the TLA Publishing investment?
$15.5K for the services described – below.
Is this just one lump-sum plan? Or are there are any parts of it this that are optional/à la carte?
This is a package investment with the components we find deliver the best results for our books/launch.
- We do have an option for $6K that would include a more rudimentary cover design and publish to Amazon only but do not recommend that for thought leader authors that want to be on the bestseller list, and to be in brick and mortar stores, plus a top cover design.
Who would I be contracting with?
our agreement would be with TLA Publishing which is a division of Sara Connell Coaching (same company as your TLA membership.) During the publishing process, you’ll be working with Ed and Jane as your main points of contact.
What is being offered/promised in exchange for the investment?
The bestselling author package includes the deliverables mentioned below so they’re easy to reference.
Essentially the team takes your google or word doc and create and launch your book. Ed & Jane can speak specifically any of these points (just ask them)
What is included in your TLA Package?
- Proofread/Copyedit (for grammar, punctuation)

- eBook distribution to popular platforms (e.g., Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play)
- ISBN assignment and registration
- Library Of Congress assignment and registration
- All Metadata built, entered, and managed into the various online and Brick and Mortar retailers.

- Seller account on Amazon set up and management.
- Author account setup and management-
- Social media marketing (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) for three months through Bedside Reading and additional partners
- Goodreads author profile and book listings

- Amazon and other retailers book ads
- Press Release Distribution
- Announcement of book release and author news
- Targeted distribution to media outlets and influencers
- Online press kit creation
- Trade publications ads such as Publishers
- Weekly, Foreword Reviews, etc. (the authors are responsible for the ad costs; we negotiate and manage)
- Brick-and-Mortar Distribution and Retail Sales via a traditional book distributor or wholesaler.

- Royalty Management and Amazon
- Seller Page Optimization

- Retail promotions (there will be some costs to the author TBD–we will discuss fully when it is time)
- Bedside Reading will be offering placement of your physical book to 5 luxury hotels
- Bedside Reading will be offering placement of your digital book in all our hotel partners
- Bedside Reading will create social media posts for 3 months
- BESTSELLER CAMPAIGN- team will profile your book on Amazon in relevant categories to book topic and set up bestseller campaign aimed to have your ebook reach bestseller status in one or more. This also includes campaign to sell 1,000 e-books (author keeps all profits).
Representation at major trade shows, domestic and international
- International Representation for rights sales to all territories and distribution into the UK, Europe, and India. (Authors are responsible for some fees and rights sold on a commission basis.)
What are my responsibilities in terms of deliverables?
You will send us your final manuscript . Then be in all of the approvals process as the elements of the book are completed for your review: copyedit, cover.
You’d also create book assets such as back cover description, dedication, and provide endorsements if you’ll want to feature those on the cover.
We have a training in TLA that walks you through creating these assets step by step.
What outside investments are not included that I should expect/budget for?
Printing and production are examples. The TLA pub team will create the social media, press kit and materials described above.
Authors are responsible for any ongoing book marketing after launch and marketing for their overall business. If you wanted to host an in person launch event or hire a PR team to book tv or podcats or article features for example, that would be outside of the TLA pub package.
We can coach on your book launch and marketing plan in TLA coaching calls. We also have the core strategy training on what to do before, during and after launch in the curriculum site.
What is the expected time frame from finished manuscript to printed books, assuming I hold up my end in a timely way?
As long as you send your approvals/choices for cover design etc promptly the timeline is 4 months from delivery of manuscript to books in hand.
Are there any extras I need to be aware of?
We are always on the look out for new technology to boost your sales, when we come across them, we will let you know about them and offer options.
